where the heck have i been??

well, i was sick for like 2 weeks. which caused a bit of log jam in my life so i have also been busy. i guess that is the norm for me, though. last friday i was on my way back from the fabric store, pulling into my driveway, when my neighbor backed into me.

i then spent friday dealing with insurance stuffs, and then this morning i dropped my poor car off at that progressive concierge service thingie. they gave me keys to a rental:

Rentalredcar

they just called me to let me know i will see my car probably by the end of this week. that means i need a special musical mix for the rental car, which i have been making for the last hour.

i should be photographing merchandise for my webshop, since i have some new stuff made. i also need to make a trip to the post office, which will be much easier now that i have a car to drive... a crafty post soon!

i want my elephant!

i am still fighting this nasty cold/infection/thing. i did make this last night:

i wish i was better...there would be more sewing goodness if i was more up to it...

super bunny, up up & away!

Superbunny

although mr. bunny dreams of being a super hero, i am dreaming of being well again. i have been sick for several days now, and i am very tired of sitting on my couch sneezing, coughing, and sniffling. this is one heck of a head cold!! i did manage to ink this drawing, and make it into a postcard design. but that is pretty much all i have done since last thursday...which is pretty sad indeed! oh well...more plushy goodness will have to happen on another day.

bright idea? or proof i am a goof?

after changing the light bulbs in the dining room for the millionth time, (yay old new england houses...) i was thinking how easy it would be to make a plush version. so i did. i plan on making some that are different colors, and i want to add arms & legs to them, like i did for the ice cream dolls.

sometimes experiments work!

baby animals everywhere...

Babyanimalsmonkey
one of my favorite patterns to make is the sleepy bunny & blanket. i decided to expand the pattern to make other sleepy baby animals too. a monkey, kitty, elephant, puppy, & bear...

these will be part of a shop update i am working on currently. i feel like i have been sewing & experimenting a lot lately, but often my experiments are met with failure, or else i feel like i can do better. i often feel like that when i make something, its okay, but i know i can do better! so i keep on sewing...

ufo playset

i heard this strange whirring sound coming from my porch, so i grabbed my camera and got this footage...

Ufosighting01_2
i think it was using a ray to disrupt my little camera, but i did some better pictures when it got closer...

Ufolanding01
okay, this wasn't a real UFO, but i was finally able to make a project that worked! it is a UFO playset. i made it with a combo of vinyl. felt & fleece.

the top is removable, and unzips revealing some little alien friends.

i am pretty happy with how it came out!

achoo!

Kleenex2_2
tiny hand sewn felt kleenex box. sadly the only thing i made this weekend that didn't turn out terribly. sometimes when i make stuff it comes super easily. other times, like this weekend, i struggled, and made ugly things, or else would loose hope that something would work, and for fear of ruining what i started, i stopped. maybe something better will happen on the sewing machine this week, but for now this is all i got.

kitty cats go 'meow meow'!

Blackkitty02
here is my attempt at a black kitty. i think she is cute....i have an orange one in the works next. they take some time to make, though.

Blackkitty01_3 wondering how i got the lime green eyes? in case you were, i actually painted them. they are regular safety eyes, and i have been wanting them in colors other than black for a while. after discussing with my dad how hard it would be to mold and make my own, he suggested using enamel paints like for model airplanes & cars. brilliant!

we picked up some paint and i experimented with it. after letting the enamel dry for 24 hours it was nice and durable. not as durable as the plastic alone, but pretty darn close. the only draw back are the fumes while painting them. so if this is something you might want to try, make sure to do it near an open window or away from eating areas.

anyway, i am sorry i have been m.i.a. i feel like i have been not blogging as much as i really should. my part time temp job has been temporarily become a full time one, thus cutting my crafty time down. hopefully, after this week i can get back into the swing of crafty goodness and post more fun stuff.

mrow?

Kittydoll03
after i got home yesterday from my current temp job i had a little vision tickling my brain of a kitty that was a doll. i sat at my sewing machine and quickly cut up some fabric and made this! she is thread jointed like the apple head dolls, and i was sure to pick a fabric with kitties for her dress. i am not sure how i feel about her...but i am going to attempt a black kitty next...

as elusive as...

Sasquatchpost
i know it has been quiet here in sewing stars land. it is actually an all too brief lull for me. i am enjoying it as much as i can! i am awaiting my newest freebies to with this round of orders which features the sasquatch...so more new stuff soon, but for the moment i am resting my tired hands & exhausted spirit.
