once about a year, i am suddenly struck with the desire to make handbags. yesterday afternoon and into the evening, i created these patterns to print out to incorporate into bags.
this afternoon into the evening i will be cutting out all the parts. i have some bark cloths and some cool ikea fabrics to incorporate with these patterns i made, i think they will make very cute little bags when i am done. its like the 50's atomic age meets sewing stars!
not the best picture, but you get the idea... i am not really used to my camera and the out-of-doors to be honest. i am much better in the artificial lighting of my set up area for product shots. i need more outside practice!
these lucky little ladybugs have retractable wings, and snap closure for when they aren't flying from flower to flower. speaking of flowers check out these awesome sunflowers that just opened behind my house!
neither i or my neighbor planted them, and they are on either side of where we keep the trash cans. its a bit of mystery how they got there, but i sort of don't care since they are just so awesome! i would have taken pics of the ladybugs on the sunflowers, but there were about a thousand bees buzzing around them.
oh summer! why must you come to an end??
the weekend is almost here! tonight is dinner with the boy, then sitting around sewing faces on these little lady bugs i have been working on.
this is actually a very old pattern i used to make that actually predates my website! i only ever sold them at craft shows. and i have gotten much better at sewing since then. i changed up the materials i was using, and i think the revamped new lady bug is cuter than ever...next week i will post finished pics of them...

by tonight, i should have 2 more done to add to the shop tomorrow...
well, after loosing myself in pattern making and book writing, i looked up long enough to see my poor webshop was neglected. so i just added new merchandise to the shop. i am also working on making gorillas to add by next week.
other than that, things seem to be going, and taking me along with them. its been a quiet summer so far here, and i also took on yet another part time temp job. this time at the local chapter of the American Mathematical Society as a production artist. it has been really fun! i may suck at math, but i do love math geeks!
i hope everyone else's summer is going well too...
well, i turned in the first draft... and i think i broke my poor little brain. i am in the midst of sample making now for photographing... if you could see inside my head it would look much like my poor studio:
a big messy pile of fabric! i need to take a break at some point and clean up... sorry i don't really have much more to blog about. this is pretty much all that has happened in the last month. i am trying to keep the rest of my book stuff under wraps so it'll be a surprise!
well, i hope everyone has a great weekend. my plans include finding the floor of my studio again...
