who blogs on a saturday?? i guess i do. well, i posted this mohair bunny, Yvonne, on bid4bears.com this morning. she was sitting around with her sister bunny not finished, so i decided to fix them both up and now they are up for sale.

monday is my target day for the webshop to be loaded with the elephant kits & the coffee & tea cups i posted here, and some new ones i haven't posted yet... alright, back to making stuff!
in high school i made up a really annoying song i sang to annoy all those around me. "kitty cats go meow, meow... kitty cats go MEOW!". i don't think typing that out will translate quite the same way, except for those of you who knew me back then who are probably cringing. i actually still sing this is my head quite often, and sometimes my kitty, neo, gets to hear it too. why am i babbling about silly things i did over 10 years ago? oh yeah, i made my first mohair kitty, in black of course!
i have named this one baxley. i am not sure if i want to sell him, i really like him, and he is my first kitty. i have kept my 'firsts' of the mohair critters to be able to look back on what i have done. so he may stay here with me, and perhaps other kitties will be born...
i will be working on a shop update today, i have no set time for the update, sorry. i find that it usually takes me waaaay longer than i expect, so if you want to pounce on some squid or what-not, check in late afternoon east coast time...i will also send a message to the mailing list once i am done...
this is a little mouse i made yesterday. i made her a tiny little dress. her head is jointed so it turns. i will be making some more mice to add to my etsy shop over the weekend.
the weather today in providence is amazing! it is going to be hard to concentrate when all i want to do is be outside!

yesterday afternoon when i was sick of cutting out pouches i decided to photograph some of the bears i have. then i thought, why not put them in the etsy shop? i think i will list more next week too, but i was so excited about getting my etsy shop up and running finally i just put 3 items in there...
i also decided to try an auction site that is just for bears, bid4bears.com and listed another bear over there too.
since i still have so many of them around i have decided to lower my pricing on them quite a bit too. next week more bears will appear here and there, and as they do i will let you all know...
...and now it is back to pouch making for me!!

late last night i was sewing away on this octopus, and apparently woke my downstairs neighbors. oops! from now on no more sewing past 10:00 pm...this pattern will become part of an emerging ocean life series, which as you all saw started with the whales. more to come...as the wheels in my mind turn...
i have somewhat recovered from the 2 week trip to california. once i came back it started to feel like a dream. was i really there that long? i took my sewing machine, and made bears for the teddy show i am doing this weekend in new bedford, new hampshire. i made all sorts of things actually, and there are some pictures on my flickr account of them.
the nevada city teddy show was really fun and eye opening for me. although i didn't sell out like i was hoping, i did sell some bears, and i made some awesome friends! here is a little collage of the show, but to see even more pictures go to the teddy show set on flickr.
1. my table neighbor luanne of lulu bears, aleta from the silly bear & her hubby, and a blurred patty of swan valley bears.
2. sonya of sunnie bears, who was a couple doors down from me at the outside inn, and was so sweet to me!
3.maria of moo's toys, who i met up with in southern california after the show and she fed me the yummiest sushi ever, then we got rement at the mitsuwa market in little toyko.
4. shelli of potbelly bears, who has been so encouraging to me, which really helped when things were slow and i was feeling bummed about not selling more bears.
i had an extra day to enjoy nevada county and all the pretty pines, the yuba river and the empire mine. i drove all over that day and took a zillion pictures especially at the mine, which was really cool. you can see more pictures from the mine in the set i made on flickr, but here is a little collage of some of the cool stuff i saw there...
so i had a great time hanging out with new teddy bear folks, going fabric shopping with theresa, eating yummy southern california cuisine with my dad, and spending my days sewing with a little doggie at my feet. it was great, and strange feeling to be back.
now i gotta get back to sewing! there are still 2 more shows to do in the next 2 weeks! yikes!! and thanks to any of you made it through this reeeeaaaaly long post! ♥ teresa
they are on their way. my studio seems sad without them. well, it is also sad because i have already started packing, and my sewing machine is no longer in the studio either. last night i wound ribbons on spools, packed embroidery thread away, and sorted buttons into containers. my goal for amounts of bears is short by 5. this means that i will making 5 more bears while in california. afterall, i need to make sure that i have enough bears for the New England Teddy show on April 28th when i return. i am also taking fabrics to make some stuffed animals for the RISD Alumni sale that is May 5th. no rest for the wicked! not even on a semi-vacation to california....
anyway, i will be leaving the webshop open while i am away, but that means any orders placed from April 6-24 will not get shipped until April 26th. so bear that in mind...
alright i have packing to do! i leave tomorrow! yay!!
things are moving along here in studio sewing stars. some of the bears just had a little photoshoot so i can make 'birth cards' for them. i still need to make some outfits, and finish up the outfits that need some last minute touches. then all the bears need to be packed away and shipped off to nevada city, along with my other craft show stuff.
i have to say, i am really nervous. i have done plenty of other craft shows, but never a teddy bear show! i have no idea how it is going to go, and i will be by myself there too, which is kinda scary. i hope i can handle it! jitters aside, i am also extremely excited to see the other bears in person, and meet their makers. it is going to be fun!
well, anyway, back to finishing up the bears!
i know i have been lacking in webshop maintenance, and posting has been spotty at best. i actually came down with an awful flu last week, and so what little time i had was spent at my sewing machine working on the bears for the teddy shows, which are now less than a month away.
it never seems like there is enough time in the world to get everything i want to do actually accomplished. this is the first time in 3 years i have been this ill too, making my goals shrink even smaller. by concentrating on the bears i think i can pull off the teddy shows, but this means other things will remain neglected for another few weeks...
she is 6" tall, made with a hand dyed mohair, she comes with a little panda doll that is 1.25" tall, and she is decorated with a bow & paper flower. i hope she can find an awesome new home! if she doesn't sell by this weekend, i will re-list her again...wish me luck with the auction, and happy friday everyone!
yesterday morning i was sewing away, and turning pieces inside out. after turning a little while my hands got really tired, and couldn't make a fist! so i decided it was time for a break...i had been considering it for a while, and decided to go ahead and make a little website area just for the bears. after that i thought i should probably have biz cards that were just for the bears, so i designed these and ordered them last night:
i also ordered gift wrapping supplies and other items i will need for the shows. now i can concentrate on the sewing side of things to do. yesterday's extended break was really nice, but now it is back to the grindstone!
