where the heck have i been??

well, i was sick for like 2 weeks. which caused a bit of log jam in my life so i have also been busy. i guess that is the norm for me, though. last friday i was on my way back from the fabric store, pulling into my driveway, when my neighbor backed into me.

i then spent friday dealing with insurance stuffs, and then this morning i dropped my poor car off at that progressive concierge service thingie. they gave me keys to a rental:

Rentalredcar

they just called me to let me know i will see my car probably by the end of this week. that means i need a special musical mix for the rental car, which i have been making for the last hour.

i should be photographing merchandise for my webshop, since i have some new stuff made. i also need to make a trip to the post office, which will be much easier now that i have a car to drive... a crafty post soon!

as elusive as...

Sasquatchpost
i know it has been quiet here in sewing stars land. it is actually an all too brief lull for me. i am enjoying it as much as i can! i am awaiting my newest freebies to with this round of orders which features the sasquatch...so more new stuff soon, but for the moment i am resting my tired hands & exhausted spirit.

for kids from 1 to 92...

well, i am done mailing orders, making stuff for shows, and basically doing crafty stuff in general. i am exhausted. i really think this was one of the most intense and rewarding holiday seasons so far in sewing stars land. i owe everyone who came out the shows, or ordered from my site a HUGE thank you!

now all that is left is to pack my suitcase (hence the laundry in the background), and head off to california to spend the holidays with my dad & brother. i want to bake cookies, wrap presents, decorate the house, and finally relax a bit. i feel like a wind up toy that finally just wound down.

i will post from the other coast i am sure, but before i forget to say it, HAPPY HOLIDAYS everyone!

its by birthday!

i can cross the street by myself today because...

Turning301_3
ever since i was little my father would tell me, "you can't cross the street by yourself until you are 30!". well, today is the day. i can cross the street by self, and i have now spent 3 decades on this planet. crazy! i sure hope the next 10 years are even better!

you'll rot your teeth!

well, here it is at a store! therese laskey's softies book, and my little toothy on the cover smiling at passers by! i got my copy in the mail the other day, and it a really gorgeous book. chronicle always makes the best books! i am so thrilled to have a pattern in here. i have seen the book at several independent stores, i have yet to wander into a border's to see if they have it there yet, but i think all the patterns are really awesome, and there are even 2 needle felting patterns including one fron jenn docherty!

this is a shot of the picture for my pattern..the photography is so wonderful too! can you tell i am impressed???

in other sewing related news, last night a funny little critter was created. not on my list of 'to do's, but the cooler weather totally got me thinking about fall...

Hands

i am aware i have been pretty m.i.a. and i am sorry about that! and i also apologize for posting a picture of my hands. i don't really have anything else to post at the moment. piles of half finished things sit waiting for my hands to get working on them again. sometimes a gal needs a break...

w-i-p tuesday

Wiptuesday

well, it is kind of quiet around here. other than the hum of my air conditioner fighting off the humidity & heat...instead of waiting until the last second, i decided to start my contribution to the upcoming plush you show early, so that is what i have been working on lately, along with other things of course. i can't ever seem to stick to one thing...i like working on lots of things all at once...

no longer m.i.a.

i realize i sort of dropped off the internet there! i am sorry! doing 2 craft shows back to back seemed like a good idea, but it was really super draining. i am just now sort of recovering...

craft show round-up, part 1: Felt Club:XL Summer

Feltclub1 Feltclub2

i shared my table with the adorable Maria of moostoys.com. traditionally a bear maker, she also brought amazing sock dolls that sold out right away. we were also super lucky to have kelly of superbuzzy.com come and help out! it was so awesome to have such wonderful ladies to spend the day with. the show was crazy busy! as we were showing up to set up and help get the space ready 2 hours before the show opened a line was already forming! charles pheonix was an excellent MC, and i think Jenny of sewdarncute.com is super amazing! she ran an excellent show. thanks jenny!!!  there are more images i took of felt club on my flickr account, so check it out.

craft show round-up, part 2: Artbeat in Somerville

Artbeat1

Artbeat2Artbeat3_2

after selling out of certain items at felt club i was happy to know i still had a couple of days left once i got back from LA to restock certain items for artbeat. well, thanks to an intense thunderstorm that crossed chicago right when my connecting flight was trying to take off i wound up stranded in chicago for an extra day. luckily despite my bag being 'misplaced' (which had my sewing machine in it) they found it and delivered it thursday evening only hours after i had finally gotten home, and friday i worked like crazy.

thankfully i was able to pull it together and so saturday morning erica of coffee-drinker.com and i headed off to somerville. it was super fun, and we got see some of crafty friends there, and at the end we both restocked magpie with our goods...

now i am finally done with craft shows until the fall! yay! but of course it is only a temporary reprieve, there is still so much to do! i know a lot of you wanted ice cream dolls, so i will be back to sewing this week to make more, and post them by next week. it is nice to be back!

noah's ark?

naw, just what happens when i prep for 2 craft shows a week apart...twins and quadruplets are made...

i leave wednesday for California! if you are in the southern California area come & see me at felt club july 15th. and if you live in new england come on into somerville and see me at artbeat, july 21st! i will be the tired jet lagged person behind the ice cream doll piles....

they seem to be in a hurry...

Cherries

just a quick post...i have to get back to work, but i thought the cherries looked so cute after i finished them and before they got attached to their ice cream friend's heads, so i took a quick pic.

yesterday i worked mostly, but i did take out a couple of hours to go down to point judith and eat some fried fish & play on the rock beach for a bit. it was a nice break.
