i am just a visitor here, i am not permanent

Superbuzzy4_2
being a native californian makes it easy to hop in my dad's spare car and going tooling around the los angeles basin, and beyond when i am here. today i went all the way out to ventura, braving the morning traffic on the 134 & 101 in order to see kelly, of superbuzzy.com fame. she just moved her warehouse into a space out there, and i swear it is like dying & going to a fabric filled heaven! japanese import fabrics fill racks with cuteness galore! i already made an online order i was picking up, but then i was unable to resist buying more!

we also hung out with her cute wee one, who made sure i got the tour, and we all went had an excellent lunch. i know i have only met kelly a few times, but she is super awesome, and so nice to boot! go see what she has in stock, and check back in the coming weeks, i got to see some of the brand new fabrics she just in, and trust me, it is super awesome!

worst gift i ever got!

Hsa07worst1okay, so i am judging for holiday softie awards, but there is only one correctly tagged entry for my category! so please be sure to tag your pic on flickr with: HSA7worst

and here is the description for the category:

"The Worst Gift I Ever Got! - Have fun with this one. Please include a note on the softie's flickr page to tell us a little about your softie version of a horrible gift! (note: do not enter a photo of the actual gift, please make a softie that replicates it or otherwise references it, like a softie wearing a version of the horrible sweater you got one year)"

so come'on! i wanna see tube socks with frowns, mis-shapen sweaters on dolls, etc! be creative! be silly! the only pic so far is from periwinklepenguins. the softie she made represents her worst gift ever as 'bronchitis", which i totally love.

don't be afraid of what you can't see

well, i have been really busy, and despite my best efforts the small halloween update has been delayed. by friday skeletons, pumpkins and black kitties will posted, and i am sorry for anyone who has been waiting...

i did however make a little freebie for people who need some halloween spirit right away, a little paper doll skeleton! you will need 8 brads to make his joints move, otherwise just tape him together...you can download the image here: sewingstars.com/skeleton/htm

lil' rhody creamery

Icecreampogress

these little ice cream dolls are waiting for their cherries, and the cherries are waiting for the order of eyes i made to come in...once done, these are all destined for the webshop. i have a new flavor on the far right, coffee!

they seem to be in a hurry...

Cherries

just a quick post...i have to get back to work, but i thought the cherries looked so cute after i finished them and before they got attached to their ice cream friend's heads, so i took a quick pic.

yesterday i worked mostly, but i did take out a couple of hours to go down to point judith and eat some fried fish & play on the rock beach for a bit. it was a nice break.

alright, back to working...craft shows are fast approaching!

i am not the walrus.

Eggman1

meet my egg man. he has a crack that is making him cry. which upsets my poor boyfriend to no end. i think it is funny & cute, though. from working with my wedge patterns for the apple heads, i really got the hang of it and decided to try an egg. hence the egg man. more to come for sure!

who's got the button?

Buttonssewon001

i have had several people ask me for sew on shank buttons. i got myself a little kit to try it out. i have to admit they came out pretty cute. now the question is, should i start selling sew on button sets too?

magic, got it.

Buttonsfruitheads

Fruitheadssetsto go with the fruit head dolls i made button & magnet sets. i finally figured out how to package the magnets so they look like the button sets. these are super strong magnets too, able to actually hold papers on your fridge or filing cabinet. eventually all the other button sets i make will also be available in magnets.

the fruit head gang of dolls & the magnets/buttons will available in the webshop by friday this week. thanks for all the super nice comments on the dolls so far too! ♥ ♥ ♥

all this fruity goodness led to my baking lemon cupcakes last night...yummy. i think i need to go have one right now...

rainy day blues & delights

Applestogether1_2it is another rainy day here in new england. gloomy early summer storms have been rolling by since yesterday. luckily, there was a break late yesterday afternoon, and erica just got a new little bbq, so we had hot dogs, yum!

my little apple head girls are finished now. they are 13" tall, made with fleece, for their heads and limbs, and cotton for the bodies and dresses.

all the fruit headed gang, big & small will be appearing in my webshop soon...i want to make a few more of the tiny ones first, though.

time for another cup of coffee to fully wake up, and then i am off to the sewing machine! have a great monday everyone!

little lemon head boy

Lemonheadboy1

well, to throw you all a curve ball, here is a boy! i made him with a velvet panne. he has the glass eyes, and is thread jointed like his fruity gal pals. this will be the last one of these for a little while. i ran out of the eyes...but i did order more, so when they get here i will make more fruity head dolls.

i was thinking about making these into larger dolls to sell at shows this summer...i might work on that among other projects today. i have neglected to tell you all about my summer craft shows! i will be doing bi-coastal shows, first i will be at Felt Club XL: Summer in los angeles July 15, then at Artbeat in Somerville (Boston area) July 21! these shows are only a week apart, so i gotta gear up now...
