a day like no other

Fruithanger02_1mmm...fruity, fun, and crafty, what could be better? i know, a kit so you can make them too!

i put together a kit with patterns, directions, and felt. i will have them up in the shop on friday for the update. the first four orders of the kit get to have a free sample fruit hanger!

Fruithanger01

i hope everyone has a fun spooooky evening! while packaging these kits, i was watching a history channel special on the origins of halloween...the celtics started it over 3000 years ago! and they used to leave sweets as offerings for the spirits that had passed that year, and we still pass out candy as part of that tradition. i wonder if i will get trick or treaters, i sure hope so! my candy bowl is waiting at the front door!

Halloween
have a spooky and sweet evening! happy halloween!

oooo....eeee....aaaaa!

Hpparty01

saturday was a fun filled day that ended in a halloween party at my house! i cooked all sorts of food, and fed everyone who came over until they were going to burst. while i was in the kitchen, the early party goers carved pumpkins.

later things got very ghoulish!

i know summer is really actually over the moment the heat in my apartment kicks in, which it did today! i looked at the temp according to the thermostat, and it was 60 degrees. part of me is sad because this means the heating bills will soon pile up...but it also makes me feel excited since it also means that the holiday season is right around the corner! yay! i have some fun 'sewing stars' themed items i am working on...

spooky fun

Boo! I, mean, I know I am late, but the Halloween update is all set!

boo!

Tp_pumpkin1

Tp_pumpkin2yesterday, i made these jack-o-lantern dolls...which will be part of the halloween update, plus i might make a couple extra to take to crafty bastards. they are about 10" across, so they are about the size of an actual small pumpkin.

speaking of crafty bastards, it looks like i may need a helping hand or two down there...anyone want to help me for the day? i would really really appreciate it, and pay you in sewing stars stuff! it is happening on october 1st in washington dc, just e-mail me if you are interested: teresa (at) sewingstars (dot) com.

so yeah, back to work! have a great day!

spooktactular!

saturday i had my halloween party. i had a good time, i hope everyone who came did too! here are some pictures (click to see larger):

i made lots of food, and fed everyone a big dinner! there were also lots of snacks and yummy desserts too. at one point we did have accidental party crashers, but erica finally asked who they were and they realized that were in the wrong house (there was a party next door too) and they quickly headed off... i hope everyone had a good time, and thanks to erica for baking the mini cupcakes, and everyone who came everyone who brought food & drinks!

well, i have lots of stuff to work on, so i should eat some dinner and then get to work! see ya!

more brains...

Tp_zombie1_1

Tp_zombie2_2

meet freddie the zombie. he obviously wants brains, but what zombie doesn't? he was inspired by hannah simpson's series of knitted zombies.

he is only a prototype, and i wanted to make more, but i don't think i will have time before the halloween party, which freddie will be attending.

freddie is now off to find some brains...

how ghoulish!

Tp_bat

here is the vampire bat i made for my front window. he is only 2"high, and his wingspan is about 7". he now greets the people on the street outside my house.

also, i mentioned that i made cool halloween invitations, and i passed most of them out yesterday, so here is what i did:

Halloweeninvites_1

so you don't think i am the genius behind this, it is actually from a Martha Stewart episode from about 3 years ago, of course with my own personal twist. oh, and if you are looking to do something like this yourself, you can get alginate (dental casting material) from Henry Schein Inc., it is item #58046, on the second page.

that is it for the spooky fun today!
later!
