Springplants-01 Springplants-02

well, i don't really have anything crafty to show. mostly i have been writing the last couple of days. although i took a break, and planted some annuals in containers on my porch. i wonder if they will last...my green thumb is often brown especially by mid-summer... for now, they are making the porch very nice place to sit & relax, though...

catch up...not be confused with ketchup.

Cups
hm. i don't know if i like this new version of typepad's posting system. i had my old one set up the way i wanted...oh well.

i know i have been MIA, sorry about that. i spent the last week on the west coast held up in my dad's house writing, and then we went to my brother's graduation in las vegas.

back to the grind here in on the east coast again, and this drawing is for a new button set. i was also considering making it into a stamp set. seemed like a cute set to use for scrapbooking about a family breakfast or something along those lines...

alright, back to work! i leave you with some pics from my brother's graduation and the trip to vegas:

my little furry man.

Neoblanketweb

yesterday i took my little guy to the vet after starting to worry about his excessive drinking and then puking. they did blood work on him, and my vet called me this morning to let me know everything seemed fine. the only number that worried her was the one related to his kidneys. i guess because he is an older gentleman, his kidneys are no longer working as well as they are suppose to. i just got back from picking up some samples of special foods for his kidneys. he has always been a dry food lover, but i need to try & get him to eat the wet stuff instead... right now he is curled up under the blanket napping the afternoon away, and i keep bugging him...so he is going to be fine.

this whole thing sort of took the wind out of my sails for the last day or so, though. i am going to be working really hard over the weekend to get more stuff made for the shop, which means green tea cups, regular tea cups, and finally the return of the sasquatches & yetis. so be sure to check in monday!

the big E

Bige27

yesterday i went with several friends to the big E, (the eastern states exposition). it is like a county faire, but for all of new england. along the backside were houses that belonged to each of the states. each one specializing in gifts & food that were from that state. there were also the most amazing fried food booths, a petting zoo, a building filled with farm animals, and amazing looking rides. that was just what we managed to get to do...it was very fun, and on until september 30th...more of my pictures are on flickr.

wickedly simple

i had high hopes for this weekend that crashed and burned spectacularly! so i decided to top it off with cookies, because, hey why not?

Cookiescandy

there are candy cookies made from a recipe i got in the newest halloween edition of martha stewart's magazine. i must admit, i love halloween. and even though it is still summer i am so excited i couldn't wait, so i tried out the recipe. i have found with the martha recipes for cookies there is more often than not a little too much flour. so i countered it in this recipe with a teaspoon of 2% milk.

i was going to link to the recipe on the website, but it is moving like molassas as usual...so here it is:

candy topped cookies*

3/4 cup flour // 1/2 stick of unsalted butter (room temp) // 1/2 cup sugar // 1 large egg yolk // 1/4 teaspoon vanilla // 1/4 teaspoon baking powder // 1/4 teaspoon salt // candy corns {chocolate variation--1/2 cup flour & 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa} *also, i used some super mini peanut butter cups from Trader Joes for the chocolate cookies to be topped with

1. preheat oven to 350.
2. mix butter & sugar until fluffy
3. mix in egg yolk, vanilla, baking powder, & salt
4. mix in flour, add a teaspoon of milk to slightly moisten if necessary
5. roll in your hands into 1" balls and place on baking sheet
6. bake for about 10 minutes, remove from oven and immediately place candy corns on the cookies and lightly press in. let the cookies sit for one minute, then remove and put on wire rack to cool.

enjoy!!

you crazy sucker!

Puddingwhitechoc

well, so far this summer we have been warm and breezy here in new england. this morning i woke up, already warm, and after checking the weather channel see that apparently it is going to climb into the 90's with lots of humidity. my studio is is my apartment, in a back bedroom which gets super heated around 3pm when the sun is making its way around. the air conditioner may roar to life later today! i also made up some instant pudding yesterday which will be a yummy cool treat later today.

the ice cream dolls are in progress, and new flavors i have made include mint chip & chocolate vanilla swirl. here they are in progress...they still need limbs, and cherries. i best get back to it! summer craft shows are just around the corner!

Coastersnew

the mail lady brought me a package yesterday. i opened it to find the coasters i ordered from buttonarcade.com! they look awesome, and will go up in the webshop soon! if you need buttons or coasters, or mirrors or anything like that, kyle of button arcade will hook you up!

oh, and laura lynn tagged me! i am supposed to start with 7 random facts/habits about myself post them in my blog, then tag 7 people and comment to let them know. i have a lot to do today, so i think i will skip the second part and simply say, if you are reading this then you are tagged too!, but here is the first part:

1. i never learned how to ride a bike (i am 29 now).
2. i think about getting a tattoo that says, "california native" all the time.
3. i own multiple pairs of scissors, plyers, seam rippers, and screw drivers because i always loose them, and my chances of finding one when there are so many are much better.
4. i have a crush on vince d'onofrio
5. i am total dork...i own & watch g1 transformers, and i own all of the inuyasha anime series.
6. every friday i go out with my boy for sushi
7.  thinking of 7 is harder than i thought!! uh, uh, i meet up with my awesome friends once a week at craft night at panera bread.

it has turned into a delightful spring here in new england. today it is rainy but in a nice spring way! i have a pile of stuff to do today, so enough babbling on...

disappearing act

Bearsprogress2_327_2i know i have been lacking in webshop maintenance, and posting has been spotty at best. i actually came down with an awful flu last week, and so what little time i had was spent at my sewing machine working on the bears for the teddy shows, which are now less than a month away.

it never seems like there is enough time in the world to get everything i want to do actually accomplished. this is the first time in 3 years i have been this ill too, making my goals shrink even smaller. by concentrating on the bears i think i can pull off the teddy shows, but this means other things will remain neglected for another few weeks...
