candy for a head? why not i say! i also made her a little felt lolly...she is about 10" tall standing, although she needs a doll stand to properly stand upright. i am not sure i intended a flavor so much as i thought this blue fabric was kinda candy looking, and she was my first try.
more to come i am sure...have a great weekend everyone!
i realize i sort of dropped off the internet there! i am sorry! doing 2 craft shows back to back seemed like a good idea, but it was really super draining. i am just now sort of recovering...
craft show round-up, part 1: Felt Club:XL Summer
i shared my table with the adorable Maria of moostoys.com. traditionally a bear maker, she also brought amazing sock dolls that sold out right away. we were also super lucky to have kelly of superbuzzy.com come and help out! it was so awesome to have such wonderful ladies to spend the day with. the show was crazy busy! as we were showing up to set up and help get the space ready 2 hours before the show opened a line was already forming! charles pheonix was an excellent MC, and i think Jenny of sewdarncute.com is super amazing! she ran an excellent show. thanks jenny!!! there are more images i took of felt club on my flickr account, so check it out.
craft show round-up, part 2: Artbeat in Somerville
after selling out of certain items at felt club i was happy to know i still had a couple of days left once i got back from LA to restock certain items for artbeat. well, thanks to an intense thunderstorm that crossed chicago right when my connecting flight was trying to take off i wound up stranded in chicago for an extra day. luckily despite my bag being 'misplaced' (which had my sewing machine in it) they found it and delivered it thursday evening only hours after i had finally gotten home, and friday i worked like crazy.
thankfully i was able to pull it together and so saturday morning erica of coffee-drinker.com and i headed off to somerville. it was super fun, and we got see some of crafty friends there, and at the end we both restocked magpie with our goods...
now i am finally done with craft shows until the fall! yay! but of course it is only a temporary reprieve, there is still so much to do! i know a lot of you wanted ice cream dolls, so i will be back to sewing this week to make more, and post them by next week. it is nice to be back!
naw, just what happens when i prep for 2 craft shows a week apart...twins and quadruplets are made...
i leave wednesday for California! if you are in the southern California area come & see me at felt club july 15th. and if you live in new england come on into somerville and see me at artbeat, july 21st! i will be the tired jet lagged person behind the ice cream doll piles....

well, so far this summer we have been warm and breezy here in new england. this morning i woke up, already warm, and after checking the weather channel see that apparently it is going to climb into the 90's with lots of humidity. my studio is is my apartment, in a back bedroom which gets super heated around 3pm when the sun is making its way around. the air conditioner may roar to life later today! i also made up some instant pudding yesterday which will be a yummy cool treat later today.
the ice cream dolls are in progress, and new flavors i have made include mint chip & chocolate vanilla swirl. here they are in progress...they still need limbs, and cherries. i best get back to it! summer craft shows are just around the corner!

i usually like to spread out things a bit and talk about one at a time...but it is friday, and i just have to share both!
first: i ordered some mr. bunny moods stamps, and last night got them all preped and ready. i just need to figure out some packaging, and then they will be available in the webshop as well as at the craft shows i will be doing! i think they came out really really well! just think, they are good for letter writing, scrapbooking, or i will be using mine to stamp grumpy bunnies on all the bills i mail out....
second: i made 2 more ice cream dolls, bubble gum & strawberry. for the bubble gum one, i even added the streaks that gum balls make in the ice cream.
i am going to make a few different flavors to take to the craft shows coming up...next to make? i am thinking a lemon sorbet...and maybe a rainbow sherbet too....well that is pretty much it, have a great weekend everyone!!
it is another rainy day here in new england. gloomy early summer storms have been rolling by since yesterday. luckily, there was a break late yesterday afternoon, and erica just got a new little bbq, so we had hot dogs, yum!
my little apple head girls are finished now. they are 13" tall, made with fleece, for their heads and limbs, and cotton for the bodies and dresses.
all the fruit headed gang, big & small will be appearing in my webshop soon...i want to make a few more of the tiny ones first, though.
time for another cup of coffee to fully wake up, and then i am off to the sewing machine! have a great monday everyone!

well, my old handbag was starting to show the wear & tear of my daily abuse, and the other night i decided it was time to make myself a new one. i found this strawberry corduroy and instantly fell in love with it! it is so me, strawberries and stars, but i was stumped on how to make a bag that would still represent sewing stars. after some thought it occurred to me that i could put mr. bunny on the bag, so i designed the vertical panel to go with the strawberry corduroy, and voila! a new handbag!
i think i might apply this fabric panel technique to make some more handbags for the shop...but not until i am done with all my wholesale stuff...which i should get back to! oh and i will be adding birdie mobile kits to the webshop at some point this week. i will be sure to post when i do...
