so i finished this guy like.... ah... months ago. but the person who commissioned it wasn't able to pay the balance. so! he is now posted up on etsy for sale. SOLD. i will ship him the day after he is sold.

AHM 15, last stand of greatness?

Well even if the next incarnation of the comic is going to be fugly and upsetting to me, at the very least AHM 15 is everything I could have wanted. Dear Casey Coller, I ♥ you!!! The opening scene with Go was also possibly one of favorite sections of this line of comic panels ever. 

Art for Part 1 .... A- (nick roche can be a little to weird for my liking, but overall it looked great)
Art for Part 2 .... A+ (see comment about my Casey Coller love above)
Story for Part 1 ... A (Nick can write characterizations I totally love!)
Story for Part 2 ... A- (Minus, only because we still don't know why he doesn't talk, otherwise really good!)

Over all grade ... a solid A.

One last AHM to go.I am wary, it could go either way I guess, but without awesome artwork I doubt I will be happy. Oh well. At least this was a wonderful comic! I'll take what I can get!

meltdown of plastic

its funny. i have been really thinking about the new comic arc waaay more than i should be. chris ryall posted about it on his blog to then be slammed by people like me. i did try and be constructive. and one comment made me realize, i don't hate the whole design, i hate the faces. i still doubt i will plot down money to buy the next parts, but we'll see.

i am excited to see the next issue of AHM: coda, which is #15. the preview is exciting to see.

Dear IDW,

I was never really all that into comics. But as I was sucked deeper into the fandom many of my friends showed me just how awesome the artwork was. I found myself sucked in completely. Over the course of the last few months I bought up the whole series and read them, over and over actually. Some of the art is stronger, and in the end I was completely in love with Guido Guidi's style as well as Casey Coller's, both artists for All Hail Megatron. Beautiful linework, and with talented colorists such as Joana Fuente it came to life in a way I never remembered seeing comics do in the past. In short, I was addicted and in love with your comic series.

Now, I know, loads of nit picky fans complain endlessly about plot holes, but in truth I don't mind, I found them forgivable and was looking forward to AHM:Coda to fill in the missing parts. Then my first issue arrived. #13. I was horrified by the redesign. Disappointed to see it was Don Figeroa that mutilated the designs. I sucked it up, it was one half of one issue, and hoped that the promised new series would be as beautiful as AHM had been.

Sadly I saw the preview images today.  It looks like perverted movieverse transformers, or worse, skeletonized versions of their original designs. They are creepy, and instantly turned me off. I am afraid after finding the comics such a wonderful new universe to read and enjoy the art of, that I may stop reading all together thanks to the horrific and offensive new designs.

Are you all asleep at the switch there?? You have amazing artists at your fingertips, and you chose the ugly art over them? Just because Michael Bay insists on overly kibbled, unclean designs, does not mean that is what everyone wants! And I DO NOT WANT! Please! Rethink this! Put the paint back in this tube! I will not buy them if this is all I have to look forward to.

Hopefully that will help clean out your eyes. Mine still burn from the images, and it's been a couple of months since I saw it.

robots as dolls

My friend, Marsha (pictured below), gave me this sleeping bag for dolls at botcon. My plushie Ultra Magnus has made good use of it.

Anyway! Anyone who is wondering where your order is, please now I am plugging away at the list. It's been slow going with some issues with my sewing leg, and now hand, but I am trying my best to push through. So please be patient with me! They are underway, and once I am done I will send over pics.

Also I won't be able to take commissions September at all, my other business has a craft show to prepare for, but I hope I can reopen commissions in October. 

for the love of fangirls

in addition to the awesome toys, comics artists, voice actors, kick ass panels and more, i have to say i took great pride in seeing the fangirls there. when chatting up several of them i learned that most were pretty young, and introduced to transformers through the recent movie, then went back to watch the G1 cartoon or else got hooked in animated. others seem to be die hard comic readers too. for a lot it seemed like this was their first botcon ever, and i hope they keep coming.

certain fanboys can be all sorts of awesome, don't get me wrong! but seeing the base of people supporting transformers grow makes me so happy. i may be older than a lot of them, but i am proud be counted among their ranks. as it shows in the picture above, the voice actors being swamped by the ladies for hugs had to be the cutest thing i have seen so far at the cons.

holy botcon batman!

well, i managed to win the 2-D hand drawn category at botcon! which meant i got to use botcon bucks to buy my big purchase, a MP Grimlock.

there are tons more pics at my flickr geek account. my week was insane, i took colin of fairplaythings.com around and we saw lots of sights. we also spent hours in the pasadena convention center. my brother drove in from las vegas, and the panels oh the panels! so many good toys are coming out. the one i am super excited to hear confirmation on a drift toy. *fingers crossed* it makes it to production. the TFA roddy & arcee are also going to make it to retail too, possibly as exclusives. 

it was the best botcon i've been to so far. i think the crew that runs it did a phenomenal job. *thumbs up* from me!

toy collector disease.

finished bluestreak last week. started prime and 2 bumblebees this weekend. i was humming along on them until i started on the body for bumblebee #1. *sigh* it was slow going after that. oh well. i think part of it was sewing the whole weekend long. by sunday afternoon i ran out of juice while figuring out yet another new pattern. maybe it will look different to me once i get home later. who knows.

on saturday, once getting the heads all done, i decided to treat myself with a trip to the toy vault in attleboro. i wound up getting these little guys, because they were just too cute to pass up, and wicked cheap too. its sort of silly considering i will be at botcon soon, but what can i say?

three things..no wait, four things.

one:

i finished an order this weekend when i completed jazz.

he and prowl shall be heading for their new home later this week. next up is bluestreak, already cut out and ready to go.

two:

i am doing my best to not give in my urge to drop $100 on a toy. its a toy i have wanted for a year, and until today i thought wasn't even available. i *should* use that money for things like, oh i don't know, bills, groceries, or at the very least save for botcon... but i want it!! *sigh* i make deals with myself a lot, so the deal i think i will strike is, if i can finish both bluestreak & bb by thursday, i will go ahead and splurge. sound like a good plan? sure, sure it does... go ahead feed my terrible OCD needs in your comments.

three:

i managed to get up to watch the TFA episode saturday, and can i just say it was very awesome. as thrilled as i was to see tracks & hear him speak (yay!), i still don't get why there is no mirage love. tracks gets on but not mirage?? what's up with that? anyway... i also quite enjoyed rattletrap, purple shockwave, and jazz defecting. so much awesome packed in one episode. i am a little nervous to see the end of this show, but i have hope it will be good. *hope!*

four!:

i've been busy, i guess... busier still since i have orders to finish in time to bring with me to botcon! woo! botcon! i am also participating in the art contest this time around, colin signed me up for both 2-D and 3-D. so i need to make a plush to enter, and honestly i have no idea who. i don't want to be overly ambitious, i want to make one that I can put a lot of time & detail into, but who?? prime seems too obvious. omega seems to ambitous for the amount of time i have and other things i need to make... so who???
